When I first gave my life to Christ I was in this honeymoon phase. When I prayed it got answered. I was completely on fire with no worries whatsoever! Then something happened. After awhile I had to start putting in a lot of work...everything wasn't so easy. I had to grow in patience. I even had to give up some of my plans and visions to match God's will. It was a growing process to walking with Jesus. I imagine it's similar to how my daughter feels when I push her into the next phase. I can hear her now, "Mommy, I just want.." as she continues with her heart desires. She's doesn't want to go through trials to get to the next level. She's not caring about my will or my vision at all. She just wants to be at peace and happy in the way that she thinks is right. That's totally us! If it's not you, hold on because the trials are coming.
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial that has come upon you, as though something strange were happening to you. - 1 Peter 4:12
Trials and tribulations will follow those who believe in Jesus Christ. Sorry to crush some dreams but this means it won’t always be glitter and rainbows. Honestly, sometimes you won’t understand why you’re going through. Sometimes you will feel completely crushed, like the weight is just too much. Sometimes you might not even want to pray. No matter what you feel like you have to keep the faith.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
You have to have faith that no matter what you feel like God is who He says He is, “I AM that I AM”. He’s not a liar! No matter what it looks like, you will get through, because you’re on the winning side.
We have to endure things to make it to the finish line (Matthew 24:13). When you've been in a race for awhile you get worn out and your body starts to ache BUT when we start to get worn down physically, financially, mentally, and/or ( fill in the blank), we shouldn't get worn down spiritually. You can't forget about your ability to win. You can't forget the promises God told you. You can't forget why you're running the race! You are married and sold out to Jesus! You have to lean on Jesus through sickness and through health.
Remember that this is a spiritual thing. Every trial and tribulation is to give God the glory. If you have to be broken down, so that He can get you to where you’re going, then you need to be broken down.
Lord, Give us the enduring power we need. Give us the revelation to get why we are going through our season. Allow us to get it, so we don’t have to keep going through the process. God allow us to be unwavering, unshakable, unmovable. We want to be planted by the river. We want to be strong and rooted. We don’t want to get scared and start switching sides. We are sold out to you! Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. We will have faith, no matter what it looks like. We will walk by faith and not by sight. We will stand strong on your word and allow it to be a light unto our path. Even though our situations look scary we will remember that you will never leave nor forsake us. Even though we feel broken and crushed, we will remember you don’t put more on us that we can bare. Thank you for showing us our strength, for showing us our enduring power. When we feel like stopping the race we will remember that you hear our cry and you will answer us. We will kill flesh and carry our cross. Forgive us for being weak and not leaning on you. Forgive us for our bad attitude. Forgive us for being distracted. Remind us to be attentive to listen for your still voice. Forgive us for not coming to you as small children do, with every need and with all truth. Allow us to be transparent and cast everything unto you. Thank you for being faithful even in our tribulations. Thank you for being God. Despite our emotions, our desires, our thoughts you are who you say you are. You’re worthy even when you don’t get us out of our situation right away. You deserve every praise for just being you. You are Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. Your bigger than any problem oh God. Your bigger than life itself. You know what we really need. You know all things, so even in our weak moments don’t take us out early. Don’t allow us to deviate. Every area be filled. Every weed be pulled. Every test be passed. Your will be done. Amen and Amen!
