Being Alone Is Necessary

Hello beautiful! It's been awhile since my last blog. From practicing self care, getting the flu, and experiencing constant warfare I just needed to get quiet. it's so interesting, because I didn't write in this space, but I have probably been writing more in this season of my life than any other time. I feel like I just needed that solitude. Today, I began to think of how in order to be sanctified we have to be separated. Sanctification is a constant process of separating yourself from the world and aligning your being with God. In a chaotic and noisy world, when we are constantly receiving so much information we need to get alone, get separated, from the world. Sometimes you just need to pull back and get quiet.

We are in the world, but not of the world. This means that NO we cannot remain by ourselves or deal with people just like us all the time, because we are in the world. Although I need time to separate, it's a trap to believe I can stay in solitude. Humans are not created to be by themselves all the time. While in the world we have a role to play for the greater good. We have to be present in the world, but we can't let the world filter into us. We have to remain separate.

How Can Infiltration Occur?

My husband and I bought this Pur water pitcher filter. You are able to pour water into the filter and it gets all the impure things out of your water. It's a lifesaver! My pitcher filter is like us with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit helps us discern and filter, as long as we have the ability to hear and receive from the Holy Spirit. As we receive from the world, through people, music, television, ads, social media and so forth the Spirit helps us remain pure. It can be by telling us to stop watching something, being mindful of where we go for help, or showing us something we needed to see. Sounds perfect, so how does infiltration occur then? Well my Pur Water Pitcher only filters for 2months before it stops working to full capacity and starts letting impure things get into our water. We can't constantly receive all the information from the world and expect our filter to work when we haven't changed it in awhile. The Holy Spirit is forever working, but our ability to hear and receive everything can change. You can get too relaxed with the idea of using the filter and forget the importance of making sure your filter is catching everything! If it's not catching the toxins, you are drinking the water and getting contamination!

What Are The Signs of Infiltration?

Sometimes we think that maintenance is just spending a certain amount of time with God a day through reading and praying. NO, it's not. That's a ritual. Don't get me wrong it helps, but we have to be careful with putting God in a box and becoming habitual. Sometimes my Pur Water Pitcher needs to be changed before the 2 month mark, because I drank more water. Sometimes when you have been in the midst of things and going through your normal time spent or your normal way of spending time with God is not going to work. Sometimes you have to sit at His feet a little longer to be sanctified and set apart. Sometimes you really have to seek out the details. Sometimes you really have to see what does this filter keep catching. We have to examine and dig! Signs that your filter needs to be changed is that your water is tasting different. If you're looking around and you're surroundings are tasting a little bitter or you're feeling defeated you need to separate and spend time with God. You need to get the details! Another sign is that you're seeing things differently. When we've been overworked our filter tends to be worn down and we get cloudy water. You're letting things slide more. You're not getting back up as quick as you would. Lastly, when we don't separate ourselves to change our filters we get black sediment in our water. When I didn't change my filter I started seeing little black rocks. I researched it and the little black rocks were sediment. Sediment is a natural occurring material that is caused by constant weathering or erosion. Are you sick and tired? Are you constantly getting drowned with water? That's the motion that produces sediment. Get rid of the sediment!

How Do You Separate?

John 17:17 "Sanctify them by your truth. Your WORD is truth" - Spend time in His Word.

Ephesians 5:16 "Making the best use of the time, because the days are evil" - Pull back from things. Run to God!

Psalm 119:147 "I rise before dawn and cry for help; I hope in your words" - Pour out.

Mark 1:35 "And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed. - Sacrifice and get alone.

Summary: The Word says, "Take up your cross and follow me (Luke 9:23)". Thats a task you have to do alone and it requires work as well as discipline. In order for us to be sanctified we have to be separate. There's times where we have to get away from people, from social media, from google, from blogs, from articles, and we just need to sit at the feet of Jesus. We have to learn to maintain our filter and realize that even with regular maintenance you have to sacrifice and put in work for your filter to work in full capacity.
